My 2010 Birthday Wishlist

i know i'm getting too old to expect extravagant gifts from people, but i'd like to think that people would like to support the economy and get me an awesome gift.
i'm turning 29. it's my last year as a twenty-something and to some it may not be that big of a deal, but to me, my life is halfway done. i really don't see myself living past 60 the way i treat my liver. and i'm ok with it. at this point of my life, i would've expected to have a house, maybe a dog, a good wife, and a couple of rugrats.

psssh.

you know, maybe some are content with that life, and i totally respect (and almost envy) my friends that have that accomplished. not for me. not now.

i love travelling the world in my current job. i just got back from participating in Key Resolve in South Korea. in a few weeks i'll be going to Cambodia for another exercise. i love it. living out of a suitcase, riding in buses and airplanes, seeing interesting sights and meeting amazing people. i'm kinda living like a rockstar on tour; but instead of backstage passes and roadies, it's government passports and ambassadors. i still feel like i'm 22, eyes wide-open, absorbing everything that my 4 1/2 senses can take. enough of this, let the list of geeky and obscure shit begin!

Fantastic Mr. Fox

well, if you know me, you'd know that i'm a huge Wes Anderson fan. this is his latest work, done completely in stop-motion animation, thanks to Henry Selick (The Life Aquatic, Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas). i saw this on a flight to somewhere, and remembering how cool George Clooney's voice sounded. but i'd like to actually watch this movie without Judah Friedlander's doppleganger snoring next to me.

Final Fantasy XIII

i've played every single true Final Fantasy game except for FFXII, which didn't matter cause who still owns a PS2? anyway, as soon as i get my hands on this consider my social life null and void for a few months.

The Beatles Box Set

this box set comes in with every studio album the fab four has ever done. there's two different versions, mono and stereo. i think i'd prefer the mono version, which is how most of the albums were originally recorded.

Drillers T-Town T-shirt

if anyone knows me, i rep my town hard, and Dwelling Spaces just got in these sick shirts. for as long as i can remember, i've always wanted to climb that thing. actually anything from Dwelling Spaces would make me happy, say hi to MaryBeth for me!

Darth
Vader Anything

you have met me right?

Pendleton Native American Blankets

these are just cool, Native American inspired blankets. here's some backstory:
"This contemporary interpretation of the American flag is a celebration of the patriotism of Native Americans. In 1875 Indian Scouts carried messages from fort to fort in the West. Native American soldiers saw action with Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders in Cuba. And soldiers from many tribes battled in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf and Iraq. Five Native Americans have been awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery “above and beyond the call of duty.” The design marries modern asymmetry and vintage Americana. The unique striations, using pulled out yarns, reflects an era when dyes were made from plants
."

The Puma Phone

i would give up the iPhone for this. 4 words. built. in. solar. charger.

that's about it. that stuff is feasible isn't it? well, maybe except for the Beatles Box set. there's alot of stuff i left off, like crazy, stupid drum gear. lately i've been obsessing over japanese modern furniture, and putting a $12,000 bed frame on this list just doesn't seem appropriate. and of course there's tons of music i want (iTunes cards anyone?) also
anyway, this will be the first year since i joined the service that i get to actually drink and celebrate my birthday.
so, raise your glass everyone and say it with me, SHOTGUN......
